Why Do We Need Faith?

Why Do We Need Faith?

Hebrews 11:6 – But without faith it is impossible to please and be satisfactory to Him.  For whoever would come near to God must [necessarily] believe that God exists and that He is the rewarder of those who earnestly and diligently seek Him [out].

We Need Faith Because:

FAITH DISSOLVES DOUBTS (Hebrews 11:1)

Many Christians are doubters.  They approach almost every situation with a negative and pessimistic attitude.  They usually fail, for doubters seldom succeed.  Faith is optimistic when it is put to work.  It looks for the good and expects the best.  When we put our faith to work, it assures us everything works together for our good (Romans 8:28).  We must put our faith to work because faith crowds out doubts and brings victory over them.

FAITH DISPELS DREAD (Mark 5:36)

In the world today, many are fearful about the future.  They fear the possibility of a nuclear war.  They dread financial loss, failing health, growing old, and whether or not we are going to have social security in the year 2020.  Faith does not dispose of the awareness of these possibilities, but when we put our faith to work, it does dispel the fear and dread of them.  As Christians, if we put our faith to work, it can not only calm a raging, rolling sea, but it can also bring peace to the disturbed and quiet the hearts and minds of those who trust in God (Mark 4:35-40).

FAITH DISARMS DEFEAT (Mark 9:23)

Many Christians give up too easily.  We tend to lack the faith to keep holding on when answers are delayed and results are slow in coming.  If we put our faith to work, then we are never defeated, although there may be delays.  As Christians, we must wait for God’s time and way.  As children of the Most High God, we must continue to fight the good fight of faith by doing the work of God (1 Timothy 6:12).  There is no defeat for those who put their faith to work by continuing to believe.

FAITH DESTROYS DEATH (1 Corinthians 15:26)

There is no eternal death for those who repent of their sins.  When we put our faith to work, we shall have everlasting life (John 5:24).  When we accept Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior of our lives, then we need not fear death (John 11:26).  When we put our faith to work, it assures us of eternal life and not death.  In heaven, there will be no more physical death, sickness, sorrow, or pains, for the former things are passed away (Revelation 21:4)
