God's Constitution Without Amendments

God’s Constitution Without Amendments

Psalms 119:89 – Forever, O Lord, Your word is settled in heaven [stands firm as the heavens].

What is a constitution?  A constitution is the system of fundamental laws and principles that prescribes the nature, functions, and limits of a government or another institution.  God has a constitution just like the United States has a constitution.  So, what are the differences between God’s Constitution and the U.S. Constitution?  The U.S. Constitution has something called AMENDMENTS.

What is an amendment?  An Amendment is a rule designed to correct, to improve, and/or to make better.

Why does the U.S. Constitution need amendments?  It is because men wrote the Constitution and anything man-made is destined to fail.  God’s Constitution has no amendments.

Why doesn’t God’s Constitution have any amendments?  First and foremost, God’s word is His Constitution.  Although men wrote the Bible like men wrote the U.S. Constitution, the difference lies in the source of its originality.  God did not inspire the U.S. Constitution, but God inspired His Constitution, for He is the one who gave the word.  Listen to your Bible!  In Psalms 68:11, the Bible reads, “The Lord gave the word; Great was the company of those who proclaim (published) it.”  God’s Constitution has no amendments because God’s word is perfect.  Listen to your Bible!  In Psalms 19:7-9, the Bible reads, “The law of the Lord is perfect, restoring the [whole] person; the testimony of the Lord is sure, making wise the simple.  The precepts of the Lord are right, rejoicing the heart; the commandment of the Lord is pure and bright, enlightening the eyes.  The [reverent] fear of the Lord is clean, enduring forever; the ordinances of the Lord are true and righteous altogether.”  For this reason, God’s word is not open to any private interpretation.  [Yet] first [you must] understand this, that no prophecy of Scripture is [a matter] of any personal or private or special interpretation (loosening, solving).  For no prophecy ever originated because some man willed it [to do so-it never came by human impulse], borne along (moved and impelled) by the Holy Spirit (2 Peter 1:20-21).

In dealing with interpretation, the U.S. Constitution is interpreted by the 9 justices of the Supreme Court.  At each ruling provided by the Supreme Court, the 9 justices issue something called an opinion.  In other words, an opinion is their private interpretation of what the U.S. Constitution means in regards to the issue at hand.  Hence, the U.S. Constitution’s interpretation can change as often as the Supreme Court changes because historically, the Constitution is whatever the Supreme Court says it is.  When the Supreme Court rules, all it takes is a majority 5 to 4 vote to pass down a judgment.  In dealing with interpretation, God’s Constitution is both created and interpreted by the 3 manifestations of the one true God.  In the Supreme Court of Heaven, the Godhead does not issue any opinions.  There are never any split decisions made in Heaven because the Godhead speaks with one voice and agree in everything.  So there are three witnesses in heaven: the Father, the Word, and the Holy Spirit, and these three are One (1 John 5:7).

The first 10 Amendments of the U.S. Constitution are called the Bill of Rights.  As citizens of the United States, constitutionally, we are given certain privileges and powers without penalty.  Just like the U.S. Constitution, God’s Constitution also provides rights, which are certain powers and privileges.  We have the right to become children of God.  Listen to your Bible!  In John 1:11-12, the Bible reads, “He came to that which belonged to Him [to His own – His domain, creation, things, world], and they who were His own did not receive Him and did not welcome Him.  But to as many as did receive and welcome Him, He gave the authority (power, privilege, right) to become the children of God, that is, to those who believe in (adhere to, trust in, and rely on) His name.”  Also, we have the right to the tree of life.  Blessed (happy and to be envied) are those who do His commandments, that they may have the authority and right to [approach] the tree of life and to enter through the gates into the city (Revelation 22:14).

Why God’s Constitution Over U.S. Constitution?  This does not suggest Christians are unpatriotic.  We love America and the freedoms we have there in.  In some countries, Christians are not allowed to stand up, proclaim Christ, and share their faith, without the government or some rebel group ostracizing and persecuting us because of our faith in Jesus Christ.  So, Christians speak with one voice when we say, “God Bless America!”  With all of its faults, God Bless America!  The United States of America is the greatest country in the world for one to live, place residency, and habitat.  However, as Christians, we understand God’s Constitution comes first in our lives.  Therefore, we will always obey the U.S. Constitution, for as long as it does not contradict God’s Constitution because God’s Constitution is the only Constitution that is infallible.  Listen to your Bible!  In 2 Timothy 3:16-17, the Bible reads, “Every Scripture is God-breathed (given by His inspiration) and profitable for instruction, for reproof and conviction of sin, for correction of error and discipline in obedience, [and] for training in righteousness (in holy living, in conformity to God’s will in thought, purpose, and action), so that the man of God may be complete and proficient, well fitted and thoroughly equipped for every good work.”  Humanity must choose God’s constitution over the U.S. Constitution because we are all going to be judged by God’s constitution.  Jesus said, “Anyone who rejects Me and persistently sets Me at naught, refusing to accept My teachings, has his judge [however]; for the [very] message that I have spoken will itself judge and convict him at the last day” (John 12:48).

God’s word is an unchangeable document, which still has the power to change all lives.  If we continue to put God first by adhering to His word, then we will stop trying to change His Constitution to accommodate man.  God’s constitution does not have amendments, nor does it need to be amended, but as people of the Book, we do need some amending.  Let us allow God to correct us, improve us, and make us better in Him.
