2014 Vacation Bible School With Joshua Creel

This past week we were blessed to have Joshua Creel of Tampa, Florida (One of the Evangelists at the University church of Christ) serve as our guest speaker for VBS.  If you missed any of his lessons, then you missed a series of really good teaching.

On Monday, the message was entitled, “Stand Or Die”.  As Christians, we must train for success because our adversary is fierce.  Nevertheless, regardless how fierce our adversary is, we have an ally in God who is stronger.  For this reason, we have a duty to fulfill.  Our duty is to put on the whole armor of God & stand firm in this fight.

On Tuesday, the message was entitled, “Who Is My Neighbor?”  The gospel answer is everybody, but this message mainly placed the emphasis on each of us & thus, changes the question to, “Are we being a good neighbor to all?”  Being a good neighbor is not complicated.  What did God say, then go do it.  We should never try to excuse ourselves from doing God’s work because we just might excuse ourselves out of eternal life.  We are not smart enough to pick & choose our “neighborhood”. Therefore, let God Himself define our neighborhood.  At the end of the day, we must do God’s will wherever we are.

On Wednesday, the message was entitled, “Traits Of Godly Friendships.”  Using the example of David & Jonathan, the traits are: 1) Based on common, godly traits, 2) Tightly bound to one another, 3) Fosters honesty, & 4) Sacrificial.  Do we have friends?  If so, are they godly?  Do we have a friend in Jesus?

On Thursday, the message was entitled, “Always Do Your Best”.  This message was based on Jesus’ parable in Matthew 25:14-30.  God blesses us with ability & He also provides an opportunity for us to use that ability.  For this reason, God has an expectation of us & it is not a low one.  Hence, when it comes to the work of the Lord, let us not wait to get started.

Finally, on Friday, the message was entitled, “The Call Of Christ”. A disciple is one who models his life according to the instruction & conduct of the teacher.

Our average attendance this week was 88 with our highest attendance being 101.  This is lower than last year’s average by 9 & last year’s high by 13.
